HOTF: Into the heart of Rocky Top

The first question the group of Ohio fans encountered after making the journey south of the Mason-Dixon Line wasn’t “How do you think your offense will perform against an elite defense?” Nor was it “Do you think Frank Solich’s past at Nebraska helped him better prepare the team for a game in a hostile environment?” In reality, the question asked over and over to the traveling Bobcats fans was “Where is Athens, Ohio?”

Bobcats destroy rival Miami

The chilly and drizzly Ohio University homecoming afternoon seemed to foreshadow how the game would play out for the visiting Miami RedHawks (0-7). After giving up an opening-drive touchdown to Miami, the Ohio Bobcats (5-2) stormed back with a vengeance, and never allowed their biggest rival to score on them again. The Cats’ 28-7 win gives them their best record through seven games since 1997, when they started 6-1, and it keeps their conference record perfect at 3-0.

Bobats handle Cal-Poly

The Ohio Bobcats opened the game with a bang and never looked back. Coming off a thrilling double-overtime victory at North Texas last week, the Bobcats gave themselves a winning record for the first time since 2007 after defeating the Cal-Poly Mustangs (1-1) by a score of 28-10.

Bobcats Outmuscled in Opener

With nearly 25,000 at Peden Stadium for the much anticipated match-up with Connecticut, Ohio’s last-ditch effort was not enough to overcome the Huskies’ sheer domination of both the offensive and defensive lines.

No. 25 Kent State Flashes disappoint the Ohio Bobcats

The Ohio Bobcats (20-16, 13-5 Mid-American Conference) had a very important weekend ahead of them as they were set to play No. 25 Kent State Golden Flashes (32-9, 13-4 MAC) over the weekend. The Bobcats went into Friday’s match-up with a half a game lead over the Flashes for the Mid-American Conference East title and were looking to remain at the top of the conference. Unfortunately, after a 8-5 loss on Sunday, the Flashes are now up a half a game over the Bobcats.

Two-run lead, two homers not enough

As a team that has lived and died by its offense all season, the Mid-American Conference East Division leading Ohio Bobcats (13-13, 7-2 MAC) had to wait nearly six innings Sunday afternoon before they could get in the swing of things against the MAC West’s best Toledo Rockets (12-15, 6-3).
