As students across the country make the transition from home to college, they often bring one essential item to help them ease the process: faith. Ohio University offers several outlets for these students to stay active in their religions, such as the Newman Community, Young Life and many others.
While living in Athens, not many Ohio University students encounter a Hindu monk. However, Wednesday, May 27, OU students and Athens residents had the opportunity to hear the wisdom of one such spiritual leader.
The class of 98 students sits alert as one of their fellow classmates takes the stage. He walks up to the front of the room and, with a smile, begins. While his joke lasts only 30 seconds or so, it receives hearty laughs and encouraging claps from his peers. With this jovial start to the two-hour class period, the students take out their notebooks and prepare to listen.
